Before there was Star Trek II "The Wrath of Khan" there was Star Trek II The Undiscovered Country. While Star Trek VI has that as it's title and goes overboard in its Shakespearean references, it was more fitting a title for Star Trek II. Until Star Trek III anyway.
There's no coincidence that in Khan's quarters on Ceti Alpha V there's a copy of King Lear. Besides the title change, this is a copy of an early draft.
